Monday, Citigroup Inc. (C: News ) said Teresa Dial, chief executive officer of the company's North American Consumer Banking unit, has resigned for personal reasons. Manuel Medina-Mora will replace the leaving CEO while continuing to head Citi's Latin American and Mexican operations. Dial, who joined Citigroup in March 2008, will continue to offer her services as a senior adviser, the company said. Medina-Mora will oversee Citigroup's retail branch network, the branded cards business and the local commercial bank in the Americas after assuming the additional duties of handling the companies North American business. As a Chairman of Citi's newly formed Consumer Council, he will be in charge of Citi's global consumer strategy. Vikram Pandit, Citi's chief executive, said, "We are now focused on developing our client franchise in our core businesses." Pandit added that under the leadership of Manuel, the company will execute its consumer strategy across the global consumer banking businesses.
